Why Dan Joined St. Louis Retirement Advisors
What has changed?
I have joined St. Louis Retirement Advisors, an independent wealth management firm, in partnership with LPL Financial. LPL Financial is the nation’s largest independent broker/dealer* overall, and third largest custodian of assets**, supporting over 22,000 independent advisors. I am confident that this change will be full of positives for my clients as we continue working together and building on a relationship of trust while benefiting from improved technology and communication.
What motivated the change?
Your financial wellbeing is my top priority. As an independent advisor in partnership with LPL Financial, I am now able to bring many of the ongoing technological changes and advancements taking place in our industry to our client relationship. Working alongside a group of fellow CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals, our partnership with LPL Financial allows us to provide cutting-edge technology, resources, and investment choices for an even greater level of service that’s tailored just for you.
The Transition Process
What should I expect during this transition?
You can expect a smooth and transparent process as we make this transition together. I will contact you directly to discuss your account transfer. Using Adobe Sign, all forms may be electronically signed once you provide account information and personal data by phone. The transfer will happen seamlessly, and my team and I will be monitoring the entire process.
Will my advisory fees change?
No. I take pride in the competitive fee charged on advisory accounts, which is set significantly lower than the competition.
Investments & Planning
Has your investment process changed?
No. In fact, as an independent firm, we are no longer limited in our access to research, financial or tax planning software solutions, or portfolio construction capabilities. This freedom of choice provides us with more options so we can provide you with comprehensive planning and investment advice, in addition to having access to LPL’s world-class investment research. LPL Financial offers ZERO proprietary products.
What happens to my existing financial plan?
I will work with you personally to rebuild your financial plan using WealthVision from LPL Financial, a fully integrated advanced financial planning suite of tools from eMoney. Using WealthVision, collaboration can now take place with a Client Portal for updating plans, establishing external account visibility (outside 401(k) plans), sharing important files for convenient, safe online access, and much more.
Banking & Lending
Do I need to change my bank accounts?
Absolutely not! LPL Financial is not a bank. While LPL Financial offers brokerage accounts with check-writing capabilities and debit cards, you can leave your banking exactly where it is today. We can link your investment accounts to any bank that you choose. If, however, you decide to move your banking relationship, we are completely independent and can provide you with advice on the best banking solutions to meet your needs. We can even facilitate introductions to various banking institutions if you desire.
I have regular money movements into or out of my investment accounts. How will those be handled?
We will link your accounts to the same bank accounts that they are linked with today and will set up your regular money movements exactly as they were before.
About LPL Financial
Where will my assets be held, and how safe will they be?
As a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) member firm subject to the federal securities laws and the rules of industry self-regulatory organizations, LPL prioritizes its obligations to protect client assets in their custody with the utmost care and scrupulous adherence to financial protection rules, including those governing the segregation of client assets. With more than $1 trillion in client assets serviced and custodied, LPL provides an enormous catalog of services and resources, as well as a long history of financial stability. The LPL Financial SIPC Membership provides account protection up to a maximum of $500,000 per customer, of which $250,000 may be claims for cash. An explanatory brochure is available at www.sipc.org. Additionally, through London Insurers, LPL Financial accounts have additional securities protection to cover the net equity of customer accounts up to an overall aggregate firm limit of $575,000,000 subject to conditions and limitations. The account protection applies when an SIPC member firm fails financially and is unable to meet obligations to securities clients, but it does not protect against losses from the rise and fall in the market value of investments.
How is my personal information protected?
To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, LPL Financial uses security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. LPL’s online environment uses security technologies, including layered security and access controls over personal information.
